i have large database near 21 million rows in various tables. took months filled out, , i've been told have move it.
the server on right now, have vpn access , can work hdd at-will. runs microsoft sql server 2014.
the server need transfer 1 of sql-only servers not allow vpn or access hdd in way. have ftp site can upload .bak files to, , way through interface restore .bak files database; not work since version of microsoft sql server on server 2012. not backwards compatible.
since not have access hdd have ruled out using bulk file commands (bcp). may able perform link server operations if open right ports, afraid take week transfer way.
does know of other options can try here?
perhaps can restore db locally environment 2014 db. can etl data (sql import/export utility, ddl/dml scripts) 2012 db instance. natively (2012) , upload bak provider , restore it. assumes you're not using functionality in 2014 not available in 2012.
