apache - Stopping traffic to unhealthy web server instance from loadbalancer -

i have 3 web servers (apache) behind vip (apache, serving reverse proxy). dont want lb serve traffic if of web server has 501 error.

how can automatically.

ps: thinking use health checks part of mod_proxy (under balancemember attribute).

i afraid use wrong tool lb. apache can it's not designed specially that. suggestion use haproxy typical software situation. if need haproxy write. try not ealier on weekend.
